Furey seeks donations for his Warrior Dash

My busy schedule is making this FIT Challenge more difficult, and past this week was no different.

Every night I had something going on, from attending meetings to working on my master's degree. I traveled to Columbus for a conference and had to help sort and pass out Girl Scout cookies. All these activities are on top of my career as a teacher.

I was able to get in some cardio this past week, but I did not make it in to work out with my personal trainer Ken Cutcher of Anytime Fitness in Norwalk until Feb 24. However, despite the lack of working out, I still dropped a few pounds. I hope those pounds were not muscles disappearing.

I am finding the diet portion of this journey to be a bit easier now than in January. I am making good choices when I eat out, eating more fruit and vegetables at home and eating smaller portions. I am staying away from fried foods as much as possible and drinking more water than diet soda.

While March is going to be a very busy month, I am going to go as hard as I can throughout the month. I had a goal to be down 40 pounds by the end of March, which means I’ll need to lose 15 pounds this month. I have not figured out how I will accomplish this; I just know I want to reach that goal. I have a feeling that sleep will be at a premium.

My final note is regarding the Warrior Dash I am running June 1. One major reason I am doing this race is the partnership between the Warrior Dash and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Children from all 50 states and from around the world come to St. Jude for treatment, and thousands of children have benefited from the research conducted at St. Jude. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for anything.

Donations, which are fully tax-deductible, help out the hospital in a variety of ways, and every little bit counts. Fifty dollars can provide infant care supplies for 10 babies, while every $100 could help provide toys to fill play areas for the children in the hospital.  $250 could help provide two chest X-rays.\

I have set a fundraising goal for March of $500. If you would like to join me with this cause, click on the following link and make a donation in any amount you would like:  https://waystohelp.stjude.org/sjVPortal/public/displayUserPage.do?programName=warriordash&eventId=333032&userId=927577 Thanks in advance for your help in supporting this great cause!

Hopefully you weren't passing out Girl Scout cookies to yourself...

Nope, just helping Troop 50047 (of which I am a co-cookie chair) learn some valuable life skills while having fun! No cookies for me!
