Trot like a turkey, eat like a horse

Jason Werling
Nov 26, 2013

This Thursday put your turkey in the oven and race on over to a local 5k. The Jim Hauser Sarcoma Foundation is presenting the third-annual race at Perkins High School. If you live closer to Huron, run on over to The Gym in Huron and race in the the Turkey Dash in memory of Judi Lively.

If you'd like to do both, good luck, they start 30 minutes apart.

With three races to go I am on pace for over 54 miles in racing for the last three months of the year. After the Thanksgiving race I am left with the Christmas Story 10k (Sold out) and the finale with 13.1 miles in the Santa Hustle at Cedar Point to reach my goal of 50 miles.

There are 13 other races in Ohio this weekend in case you're visiting family and still want to get a run in.

Thursday, November 28: Turkey Trot 5k, Perkins Township
Thursday, November 28: 2nd Annual Judi Lively Turkey Dash and Mashed Potato Mile, Huron

Unassumer

How about walks? Any walks going on? Preferably inside?

Jason Werling

Unassumer, a lot of the 5ks double as walks, but it is slim pickings in the winter months. Some of the fitness facilities have indoor tracks and there is a group or two that walks around the mall.

Osborne Park's gravel trail is a great place as well.

And the Go take a Hike program from Erie MetroParks is a good program as well... http://eriemetroparks.org/index....
