6.2 miles just flu by me, fly without the reindeer this weekend

With this weekend's 13.1 miles in the Santa Hustle at Cedar Point it looks like I will be coming up short to reach my goal of 50 miles by the end of the year.

The Santa Hustle returns this Sunday and you can still register. It is a great time although it might be a bit colder than last year's race. You can compete in the 5k or the half marathon. I did the 5k last year with a GoPro camera on my head, the video is posted below. I'm looking forward to the half marathon this year as it runs over the causeway and through the park and then back.

I had every intention to compete in this past weekend's Christmas Story 10k in Cleveland. Shooting my eye out couldn't have kept me from the race, but a 24-hour flu bug did.

If you're keeping score at home, here is the recap of my past three months...

Miles   Date           Race

13.1   Oct. 6        Rock & Roll Half Marathon
3.1     Oct. 20      Perkins Lady Cross Country Halloween 5k
13.1   Nov. 10      Kelleys Island Police Chase Half Marathon
3.1     Nov. 16      Ashland Red Cross Jingle All the Way 5k
3.1     Nov. 28      Judi Lively Turkey Dash in Huron (Photos from this race are posted HERE)
35.5 miles so far

+13.1   Dec. 15     Santa Hustle Half Marathon

=48.6 total racing miles in three months

With no races left before the end of the year, my 50-mile goal could be out of reach. I wonder if I could run this weekend's race twice?

If you hear of any local races in the next couple weeks or at any time, let me know werling@sanduskyregister.com
