This past Sunday I had the pleasure of running with Perkins firefighter Brian Hackenburg for three of his 26.2 miles in the Glass City Marathon in Toledo. I ran the half marathon in shorts and a hat, he ran the full marathon in 40+ lbs of turnout gear. For more on that, click HERE.
It was a great run in Toledo with thousands of other people and there were plenty of people from this area who made the early-morning trek to T-town for the race.
This weekend I'm wearing my soccer coach hat, a role that has me missing out on the Lighthouse 10 mile and 5k races in Huron. But from what I have heard this is a great race and the weather looks like it should be decent with a possible shower here or there. My soccer coach hat also has me missing out on the Daisy Run 5k the following week in Marblehead.
Running on an island is a great time as well. There is an annual 5k/10k on Kelleys Island and the first KI Police Chase Half-Marathon was this past November. South Bass Island now has a race series and it is in two weeks. If you act soon, there is a coupon code for a special discount.
And don't forget, the FIT Challenge 5k in Sandusky is the weekend after that on May 25. More on that 5k HERE.
