Cottier: 'I've made it a long way and I'm proud of what I have accomplished'

I ran my first 5k in 38.50 minutes!

I consider this a huge accomplishment. Never in a million years would I have thought of running a 5K.

Before the competition, I hated running with passion. Running has become easier for I really enjoy doing it.

The FIT Challenge 5K was Sunday. It took place downtown at the Sandusky Register building. The weather was really nice throughout the whole 5K.

It was nice seeing familiar faces at the 5K. A few of my cousins came to the 5K to run with me. My cousins, Karissa and Colette, drove from Toledo to attend the race and my cousin Jan drove up from Columbus. It was nice having their support during the race.

I want to give a big thanks to Mrs. DeRose and Kelly Herman for coming out and supporting me.

Mrs. DeRose is my English teacher at Perkins High School. She’s been really supportive and helpful since the beginning of the FIT Challenge.

I’ve made it a long way and I’m proud of what I have accomplished.

The 5K was exhausting, but I didn’t give up. The toughest part of the 5K was carrying the book-bag filled with 43 pounds over two bridges. That really made me think about the weight I’ve lost.

I had such a great time and I hope the Register puts together a 5K next year.

P.S. Alan is a ham.

Cole, I am so proud of how you did on Sunday! You are an inspiration to me, and I hope you are to other high school kids who need to get in shape! Keep up the great work!

And yes, I am a ham!
