Wessels goes down with flu

Dec 3, 2012

This has been a rather interesting past week, as at one time or another every member of the household was sick.
I ended up leaving work early Nov. 26, missed work on Tuesday as well.  I’m not exactly sure what was wrong, but it sure seemed like I had the flu (which was interesting, as I had just received my flu shot the previous week).
When I got home Monday, I crawled into bed, shivering and only got up early Tuesday morning in order to put together plans for my substitute teacher.  It was back into bed for most of Tuesday.  I could not get warmed up, though.  I honestly can’t remember the last time I felt this bad.
I made it back to work Wednesday, feeling a bit better, and as the week progressed, I began to feel a bit better.  On Friday morning, I ran into my trainer, Patrick Carmean of NOMS at the high school.  For a fleeting moment, I thought he might have been there trying to do an intervention, as we’ve not run into one another over the past few weeks, as I’ve been getting to the gym early in the morning.
I did get to the gym Friday, and pushed myself thru 3 ½ miles on the treadmill.  My heart rate registered at numbers that I hadn’t seen in quite a while, which, in my opinion, means I need to do more work on my cardio.  Of course, I do think that part of it has to do with the fact that I felt like crud for the most of this past week.  I’m feeling better now, so I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
