I do believe I have plateaued. The past two weeks, no matter what I've done, my weight has not changed. Annoying! At least it's not going up, though.
The new Helix machine is a pain in the butt. I get on there and feel it immediately. It makes me dizzy because it's a swaying motion. Side to side and up and down hills. There isn't a TV hookup on this machine, so there is nothing to focus on. Usually I end up picking a spot on the wall and staring at it as long as I can. After about 20 minutes I turn green with what I imagine sea sickness would feel like and have to step off. I like the machine; it just doesn't approve of me yet.
I did a 5K! I don't remember if I told you guys that or not, but I'm proud of it! I jogged the majority of it, but ended up walking after 1.5 miles. Of course, this was on the treadmill since it's cold outside and I'm a winter weather wimp. Logic struck not too long ago, and I realized it'd be a lot different to run outside than on a treadmill with the elements and the terrain. Come spring, when the robins come back out, I'm going to attempt to run outside.
Had an uplifting conversation with an old friend of mine, Kevin. He's a fit guy, and does MMA fighting, man, I hope that's right. In hindsight, I should've asked him if that was what it was actually called. Hindsight is 20/20, eh? Anywho, many many many months ago, way before the FIT Challenge we had a conversation about how I could change my eating and lose some weight and some basic exercises I could do with my still-crippled, could-barely-walk self.
Everything he told me went ignored until I won the spot in FIT. I went over his diet planning and after determining that it would fit within my food budget, I went for it. It worked. It's amazing what happens when you actually take the advice you ask for. I thanked him for helping me and told him about my plateau issues; he gave me a couple tips on what I could do, and confirmed that I'm not crazy.
Kevin is a hilarious man, and if anyone is as nerdy as I am, you'd for sure appreciate his Renaissance Festival gig. Get on YouTube, and look up Therennieidiots. *Not always kid friendly* Gah, I miss Faire. Thank you for picking me up when I was down and motivating me to keep going. I will get past this stupid plateau. Thanks Kevin!
I'm on vacation this week. I was so excited about it, until I realized everyone I hang out with works my shift. So they are gone all day and in bed early. I'm still on my work schedule so it's hard for me to stay up past 10 p.m. and I'm up by 8 a.m. (and that's sleeping in).
I painted my bathroom yesterday, went to the gym twice on Friday and plan to do doubles every day this week since ya know, I've got nothing better to do with my time.
The next competition will be at my gym, I'm feeling the pressure. It's my home field, I pretty much HAVE to win. I've had a steady streak of coming in 3rd place, and since 3 is my lucky number, I'll take it.
'Bout time for me to hit up the gym; goal this morning is to do my 5K and get at least a 20-minute spin class in before I end up crawling to the locker room. Catch you all next week!
