Another AWESOME week! We started out Oct. 15 with the FIT Challenge at Anytime Fitness in Norwalk. All I’m going to say is watch out fellow FIT Challenger Steve Wilson, I’m gonna make you work for it!
We had a planking challenge and I was trying to figure out how to scoot your way and push you over without being disqualified. Good thing for you I didn’t have enough time to figure it out. Hehe. Thanks to my husband Bruce and YMCA personal trainer Joyce Niedzwiecki for cheering me on; I wouldn’t have lasted as long without your words of encouragement to keep me going.
I was so impressed with the TRX bands at Anytime that I came back on Wednesday for a training class. I was a little late and I must say I’m a little glad I was. I have a new love/hate relationship! A lot of the moves require strength and balance and I can see how they relate to surfing so I’ll be back! Jessica (the instructor) is one tough chick and I’m inspired by her moves. It was nice to see even the regulars were having a little trouble with a few of the positions and were forthcoming with encouragement and suggestions on how to ROCK the TRX.
Thursday, back to the pool for another 72 laps or 1 mile completed, YAHOO. Just a little faster than last time, but I’m now able to hold my breath a little longer instead of taking a breath with every stroke. Next I need to work on my turns right now I’m stopping and pushing off instead of flipping and powering off.
Friday, Joyce tried to kill me and see if she could make me run fast enough on the treadmill to shoot me off the back like a rocket. OH NO that was NOT going to happen; I was holding on for dear life, and I did run, though. I even jogged on an incline (hard to believe from where I was when we started). I remember holding on while walking fast and never thought I would be jogging without holding on. Was I totally out of my comfort zone, you betcha.
I’ve learned that you can always do more than you think you can. It sure helps to have Joyce there to encourage me to reach further and dig deeper. Dreams do and can come true all you have to do is work hard and believe. Let the negative thoughts and the distractions roll off your back and never give up no matter what life throws in your way. Soon I will be hanging ten. The best is yet to come, my friends, and I plan on improving with age.
